Help & setup

FileHome 0.4.1 is a development preview for macOS 14 or later, on Apple silicon and Intel Macs.

You need a developer-issued test license.

Live purchases are not open. Downloading the ZIP alone does not unlock FileHome. If you are not already testing with the developer, please wait for the public release.

Set up your preview

  1. Download the ZIP from the FileHome website and extract it.
  2. Open FileHome and enter the FileHome Dodo test key supplied to you. Internet access is required for activation.
  3. Use Add Folder to choose a small folder to begin. FileHome only browses the folders you add.
  4. Try a name, file type or date in Search. Use the library categories to browse and Space to preview a selected file.

If macOS blocks this build

This development build has not been notarized by Apple. Do not disable Gatekeeper or other Mac security settings. If your Mac does not allow it to open, wait for the signed public release.

License help

Test and live keys are separate. This preview requires a FileHome test key, not an Outbidr key or a live key. The one-Mac license must be deactivated on the old Mac before activating another.

After a successful validation, the app can work offline for up to 30 days. Reconnect to validate when that period expires. Deactivation requires a working connection.

Cleanup and recovery

Review selected files before confirming Trash. Restore mistakenly removed files from the Mac Trash while they are still there. FileHome refuses removal when a scanned file or its designated kept copy has changed. Scan again and review the new results.

Automatic cleanup and screenshot organization are off by default. Enable them only after reviewing their behavior in Settings.
